I'll start of with my favorite coral of the show. This beaut was found over @ the www.uniquecorals.com booth.

Unique was where I spent the a good chunk of my $ in the 1st 10 minutes of the MASNA pre-show. I got a frag of the above Aussie SPS along with a frag of this Aussie Echinata:

The only colony I brought home was this Loripes/granulosa from a basement operation, I forget their name. Anyway I thought it was a fair buy @ $60.

Great pics!

I guess you ended up with a FEW corals, huh Rik! I'm glad I was only there for the day otherwise I would have picked up more.
I would have liked to have hung out and cruised the town with you guys though, I'm sure that was a blast.

Great pics; great time with all you up there.

Maybe I'm biased, but I know Copps rare angelfish talk would have been way better as the banquet keynote talk than the one the offered that only lasted about 20 minutes. They guy said he has made 57 tv shows for discovery channel ... Then at least show us some video and make your talk go for 50 minues or so. As it was, he showed about 5 minutes of video and then left his tale up in air to promote sale of his book so you could find out name of German sub lost off NJ coast during WWII. Odd that the banquet lated less than 1.5 hours. Everyone looked at each other at end of banquet at 8:15 in shock that it was over.

+1... Ahhh, that awkward silence at the end of the banquet. Didn't seem to have a definitive ending to the night's festivities. I was like "so when's the next speaker coming out...aww man, it's over..."

German sub lost off NJ coast during WWII.

Probably the U-869 which I saw on Discovery a few months back. It was found in 1991 and it appears to have been sunk by one of her own T-5 acoustic torpedoes that did a circular run, boomerang style.

Hmmm... strange choice of a keynote speaker for an aquarium conference...

But, (and I don't mean to plug the book), but Shadow Divers is completely awesome. It was recommended to me by a fellow diver, and I couldn't put it down. I don't really dive wrecks at all, but it was great. Chatterton is not the author (by Robert Kurson), but he and his friends are the ones who found and identified the U-boat, and the book is about them and the people who were part of the crew.

But again, seems a strange choice of a speaker for a conference like this.

Cheers
Mike

The topic was great and the story was good - decent attempt to relate his diving experience to what reefers experience was well done. Just sad to me that his presentation only lasted 15-20 minutes. 600+ folks at banquet wanting to be entertained and bang, it's over.
