Can we get this going again??? I know I am new but I love the idea of going to someones house and looking at their tanks. It gives me ideas. I am a carpenter so I like to build all my own stuff.
I dont care if everyone comes and sees my little 5 gallon hex nano :D maybe in a few months after the diatoms settle down and she is all stocked up
:-)
.....it was just an idea.

My house and tanks are open for viewing if anyone is interested. I am in Herndon, VA. All we need to do is set up a date. I am NOT available Jan 14, but open to suggestions any other weekend (pending Steelers outcome on the playoffs).

hey, I tell you what. WE can combine the Tank Tour with the Food Party, all the same day. Keep an eye on the Food Party to see the date and time for the event.

My tank is still in the build phase, as I am aquiring equipment, and starting on building the stand, but I would sure love to get idea's on proper setup for my system. I am Centreville, VA and would love to meet the other folks, and look at real world setups. I can contribute to this effort, just tell me how.

135gallon reef w/ 55gallon refugium, 55 gallon eel tank, 65 gallon fowlr\anemone tank, 2 pit bulls, 1 belgian shepherd, 1 bearded dragon, red eyed green tree frogs on the way!!!

"Asked by an enthusiastic journalist when and how he decided to become a chef, he avoided the usual chef spiel, which most of us are all too happy to foist on a credulous public: that we dreamed from childhood of briny sea urchins redolent of the Med; white truffles as big as your fist; big, knobby hunks of filet mignon swimming in sauce perigourdine. Palladin, a giant, a titan, a chef's chef, the mention of whose name still causes other chefs' eyes to mist over with affection and respect, looked witheringly at the inquiring journalist and replied,"why did I decide? When did I decide?... Madame!! My parents sold me into slavery!""

There is a lot of stuff going on in the next couple of months:

MACNA is this month, and a number of us are going. (and maybe food making party)

October is our fall meeting (which requires a fair amount of work).

November is the social at the baltimore aquarium...

So that's not to dissuade anybody, but I'm planning one, but it'll be a month where there is a little less going on.

This is a great idea! I would add my tank to the tour, if you guys don't mind seeing a beginners 8 month old 55 gallon tank.* I live in Fairfax County......we could also just have random meetings of people who live really close together to get advice and what not.

that sounds good to me too

I thought having a tank tours would be something new for WAMAS to try. This is a great way for members to get new idea's and help new hobbiest see how things work. Also a great way to trade some frags. I know people enjoy showing off their systems. I can help organize dates and such. We can try and do 2 systems a weekend depending on response. If you would be interested in opening your home to fellow reef or saltwater fanatics let me know. CMAS has been doing this for years and it seems to work well. I'll put my name at the top of the list. Provide me with a couple dates you can do this and we'll get the rubble rolling. We can wait till summer to start this or sooner depending on response. I will try and set up dates so reefs are located close to each other so drive time from one to another is as little as possible. You do not have to have a huge system to have your tank on the tour list. I have seen some incredible nano tanks and well as larger tanks.

my name is dwayne and i have a 150 125 and a 55 and i am in fredericksburg va my tanks arnt much but willing to show them email me if u would like to talk more about it

Patti and I would like to open up our home, and fridge, on Sunday Aug 24th, from 1-5 for a tank tour. We also have a swimming pool, fresh water though, so bring a swim suit! It should be a fun party. :)

We also have a nice sized yard for some baseball/football/soccer, so please bring the family!

In my signature is a link to our two tanks. A 450g reef and a 360g predator tank. The reef should be spectacular in a few more years but it's really pretty already. :)

Patti,

Was thinking about a 9 layer Mexican-style dip I make with tortilla chips, a spinach dip w/bread bowl, fruit salad, veggie tray with dip, or something for dessert if you'd like.

Would love to help out, let me know once you get your arms around number of people coming and your menu, no hurry.
