I have had this mushroom for a few months and it hasn't changed colors one bit. What do you think?

ONE of about 15 red mushrooms with blue spots that I have on a rock stays pale pink - no idea why.

I have one rock with 3 on there that look just like this. I have never had any corals bleach in my tank and they are staying the same color. I wonder if they are some type of mushroom that requires an insane amount of light or soemthing. Right now I have it about 4 inches away from 4x65 PC lighthing on a frag rack.

I only know if a mushroom needs more light by putting it down in the tank on the sand/shade and watch it stretch for more light - thats the only clear indication I have that it's ready to move up which I do unless it's bleached and needs more TLC. Your best bet here is to take all but one down and leave one where it is. You can then compare in 2 weeks then 4 weeks to see where it needs to be. Post pics and we'll help you.

I have a true flouro pink mushroom that is in the shade (50-75PAR) and does not stretch out for light so I leave it there - I will likely move it up after a while but I want to balance large light greedy polyps with enough light for growth and budding.

I'll keep the one in the picture up top and the two smaller ones in the bottom of the tank and see what happens.

It does look like some type of ricordea. Has it grown much since you got it? I have to agree that it also looks bleached. Shrooms typically like low light. They tend to expand in an effort to get more light but if you move them close to the light too fast they will start to shrink and bleach. I have at least 30 ricordea of all colors and types. I took about 6 of them and placed them at the top of my tank. They started to shrink so I placed them in a shaded area on top. They slowly started to adapt to the light and are doing fine. I also had a ric yuma I purchased from someone on CL. She had hers under 36 watt PC's. One was as big as a softball. I suspect it was that big because it wasn't getting enough light. I never thought that ric yumas could get that big. I placed the smaller ric that i got from her under low light in my tank. It started to shrink. It just would not adapt to the T5's and Mh's. Eventually it shrunk to nothing. If they're in one light too long and then they are moved to another light without acclimating they will slowly shrink away.

They havn't changed in size or color at all. I have other mushrooms that spread out when I move to the bottom but these act much different.
