When to start skimming on a cycling tank? Cycling new 110gal

If I remember correctly when I cycled my first tank years ago, you don't turn on the skimmer initially. Tank has now been running for two days. It has about 50lbs of dead rock. I will be adding some established live rock from my other tank. Not sure when to start skimming.

Since you're curing your rock, I'd go ahead and start skimming now. That's how I cycled my tank.

I'd also skim on the wetter side while watching my SG. I think many people feel that it is not as important to treat LR like an aquarium when the goal is to prepare it for and aquarium. Keeping up on even keeled SG is important. I'd also do a w/c on my aquarium and then change that into the LR tub as a w/c.

I hope you were talking about the tank.
Get the skimmer going and add some carbon to get that smell cleared up. The last thing you want is a spouse that is not happy with the tank.

Too late, she has not been happy several times in this build. I had to change things several times to make her happy.
