The Event ran all day with a break for lunch. It was a day that was chocked full of fun and information.
All of the speakers were amazing .
Lots of frag trading happened and  Dr. Mac of Pacific East Aquaculture, Inc., one of the regions foremost coral aqua-culturist and livestock dealers was there.
More information on the speakers will be posted soon!!
Some of the highlights
Steve Howard (Our Fearless leader) Opened the event with the announcement that WAMAS will be host of next years Macna
Dr. Bruce Carlson brought us information on Fiji- bleaching updates/recovery, and the 2 major operations down there (W. Smith's and Quality Marine?)..Bruce wins the "content award" with his stunning videos of live reef systems.  He showed how reefs can die off and how there seems to be three possible responses... stay dead, partial recovery, full recovery.  The switch to algal reef is a concern and we hope we can influence this more in the future.

Dr. Daphne Fautin one of the worlds foremost authorities on clownfish and their hosts told us "The Truth about Nemo! " Daphne wins the most entertaining speaker award.  Not just entertaining, but truly informative.  We were lucky to have her!

John Brandt spoke on  Issues of Sustainability, Reform and Regulation of the Marine Aquarium Hobby. John's talk on issues affecting the hobby and the trade was really informative.  Feedback from the audience was a key part of this... "Please educate us more on these issues!" and "How can we participate more?"

Joe Burger (JB) His comparisons of 250W bulb and ballast combinations was a great help to anyone with questions about their lighting system. Nice to have this compared to most prior studies, which were on 400W setups, as it helps a greater majority out given we tend to predominantly use 250W lighting. His web site

His lighting tests

Adam Cesnales brought us a great presention on the Identification of Octocorals. Adam's talk really helped clarify today's understanding of soft corals.  Now if only he could stop people from reclassifying them.

Steve presents Michael An Award for all
he has done for WAMAS

The all star panel answered questions from the crowd. This was an amazing opportunity to find out what is going on in the reef science world.
